Apple Picking

What else screams fall than going apple picking?

My family and I did our traditional visit to the apple farm and it was absolutely fabulous. However, we may have gotten there a little too early, so much so that apple picking wasn’t even open yet. Nevertheless, we were not about to let that ruin our day, so we bought some pre-picked apples from the store and they were beautiful! They came in a pretty wooden basket, which made it look all the more festive.

The place where we go shopping for apples has so much to offer, so of course, we didn’t just stop with apples. We got some homemade apple cider, fresh jams, and quite a few pies that we could freeze and save for the upcoming holidays. In addition to all those goodies, I have to say that none of those hold a candle to the real reason we went to the farm — the apple cider doughnuts. There is nothing like them, especially when they’re warm and covered in sugar. I’m actually salivating just thinking about them…

While I think of our farm as the perfect place to go apple picking, I know there are so many out there that have equally amazing tidbits which make the trip all worthwhile, am I right? Some have hayrides and pumpkin patches along with numerous other events that make going apple picking an absolute must for you, your friends, and your family. By the time you get home, your car will smell of Fall — from the apples to the pies to the cider, that smell combined will beat any candle you can buy. If this isn’t already on your Fall checklist, I highly recommend you put it on the top — immediately.
