Not to hate on Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas, but for the past several years, their lineup for the Countdown to Christmas has been pretty bad. If it’s not The Santa Clause (1, 2, or 3) on repeat, it’s Elf or The Polar Express. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE those movies, but would it really be too difficult to up the variety in the Christmas programming? There are so many good Christmas movies out there that don’t get programmed enough during the holiday season that it seems a shame Freeform doesn’t take advantage of that...which is why I decided to make my own Countdown to Christmas.
My sister and I came up with the idea a few weeks ago. Of course, us being the Christmas Queens that we are, we were talking about this very conversation and decided that we should just do our own, filled with the movies that we all know and love, guaranteeing to get us in the Christmas spirit (not that we need much help with that)! I am currently creating a calendar that will not only have movies for the 25 days but will also have corresponding activities to go along with the theme of the night. While most of these ideas/activities are ones that my sister and I came up with on our own, some were also found through Pinterest and other blogs, especially with the more well-known films such as The Polar Express and Elf.
I plan on formalizing and finishing it up soon with the intent on posting it here around November, so you all can join in on the fun. However, as I mentioned before, there are SO MANY good Christmas films that while I have my favorites, I know that a lot of you may not share my choices. With that being said, I thought it would be a fun and interesting idea if I got your take on what you think the 25 Days of Christmas movies should be.
