Do you want to know what I do to waste my valuable time?
I color.
That’s right. I freaking color. And not even in the traditional sense. In true millennial fashion, I color on my phone. And I’m not even sorry about it.
The app I use is called Happy Color and I’m completely obsessed. It’s basically a color-by-number, but with pictures that range from really easy to really hard. They have multiple categories, from holidays to landscapes to specific movie scenes. Some you have to pay for, which sucks, but 90% of the photos are free and the ones that you have to pay for are clearly labeled so you’re never in danger of accidentally purchasing one. They even have a Marvel category, and although it comes with some free images, that is one category you’ll have to pay for if you want to continue. I was not happy with that, considering I am a huge Marvel fan, but trust me when I say that you're hardly missing out with all the other categories available.
That brings me to the real pride and joy of this app (at least in my opinion) — the Disney section. About a month ago, I noticed a new category popped up and when I say my heart leaped, I’m not exaggerating. Not only is it one of my favorite companies but the first photo I came across in this particular section was from one of my FAVORITE movies — Beauty and the Beast. The photo in question was that of Belle and the Beast with the other various characters in the LIBRARY — does that not scream fate? Once I discovered this new category, not only was I excited to color in every single one available, I was also thrilled to discover that this category was absolutely FREE. What could be better than that?
For those of you who think I may be over-exaggerating my fondness for this app, all I can say is don’t knock it ’til you try it. It’s strangely calming. However, I would actually recommend doing it on a tablet if you’re able to, as it just makes the coloring easier. It’s also great when you’re stuck somewhere and need something to do while you wait. TRUST ME, this can really waste your day away if you let it. That may not be the most comforting thing to read but there are worse ways you could waste your time, right?
