How would you like to be the personal doctor for Santa Claus and his elves? Aside from the fact that I knew being a doctor was never going to be the dream career for me, the idea of working with Santa might have just made it worth it. Starring Candance Cameron Bure and David O’Donnell, this Hallmark Christmas film is a great way to start off the holiday season.
This film follows Lauren Brunell (Bure) who is forced to take a position as the doctor in a small town in Garland (yes, that's correct), Alaska after not getting the fellowship she had hoped to back home. It is there that she meets Andy Holliday and his family, whose father resembles that of the stereotypical Santa Claus. It’s not too soon into her stay that Lauren realizes that the town is hiding a pretty big secret, one that's right under her nose. From a big Christmas Eve celebration to her growing feelings for Andy, Lauren soon finds herself falling for the small town she was eager to get away from.
I absolutely love this movie! It’s full of fantasy, fun, and Christmas galore. With more than one romance blooming and a charming town full of Christmas cheer, even I am eager to move to Garland. That’s one of the things that Hallmark does beautifully — create a fantastical world that would make anyone (who is as obsessed with Christmas as I am) would love to live in. Everyone in the town is so nice and welcoming that, just like Lauren, we as the audience become just as enamored with the small town too.
This is one movie that I love to watch in the mornings during the Christmas season — it’s cold enough that you have to be wrapped up in your thick blankets with a nice cup of hot chocolate, and early enough that you can almost trick yourself into believing that Christmas is right around the corner. Full of charm and Christmas magic, Christmas Under Wraps is one that you definitely wouldn’t want to miss.
