Movie of the Week: Crown for Christmas

It wouldn’t be Christmas on the Hallmark Channel if there wasn’t a film that took place in a foreign country at a palace. Especially one that includes a Prince/King who is having a hard time with his place in the royal family until a special someone shows up and makes things all crystal clear. This film is no exception. Starring Danica Mckellar and Rupert Penry-Jones, Crown For Christmas is one that I hadn’t watched in a while and now that I’ve seen it again, it’s definitely going to make the Christmas movie-watching list more often.

In Crown For Christmas, McKellar plays Allie, a woman who accepts a job as a Governess for the young Princess Theodora. Of course, her father, King Maximus (Penry-Jones), finds himself enamored with Allie, especially when he sees how she interacts with his daughter. However, nothing can be that easy, right? With arranged marriages and a budding romance, Allie is in for quite a ride.

I’m a big fan of McKellar’s work on Hallmark. Most of the time, I know I’m going to enjoy a film if she’s in it. This film in particular is great not just because it’s a Christmas one, but because it has all the fun things you’d want in a film of this stature without being too cheesy. You get snowball fights, gingerbread houses, and a grand ball that makes the film very fun to watch as you try to get in the Christmas spirit.

As I mentioned earlier, while this film is obviously going to be predictable (as is any film on the network), it’s also very enjoyable to watch. I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed when you sit down to see this royally entertaining movie (see what I did there 😏). If you’ve seen this before, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
