Movie of the Week: Snow Bride

This is another Hallmark Christmas classic. Starring Kristina Law, Jordan Belfi and Patricia Richardson, it follows Greta Kaine (ablestinski, played by Law), a tabloid reporter who is assigned to get the scoop on the Tannenhill family, more specifically on the eldest son, Ben (Belfi) as it is rumored he might be announcing his engagement. However, after her car gets stuck in the snow, she miraculously finds herself being saved by the one and only Ben Tannenhill, who ends up being more than she bargained for. As she finds herself in the home of the Tannenhill’s, Greta discovers that her job may not be worth it, especially as she gets closer to Ben.

My sister introduced me to this film years ago and it’s been on my watchlist ever since. As an avid watcher of the CW's Arrow, I was already a fan of Katrina Law, so when I saw her name attached to the film, I was really excited to watch it. Patricia Richardson plays the matriarch of the Tannenhill family and I just love her in this role. She protective over her family but extremely loving when it comes to the people in her life. She reminds me of my mother, as I'm sure she'll do for many of you.

In terms of the film as a whole, it’s got a lot of great Christmas goodies for you to enjoy. From baking cookies to a Christmas party full of festive decor, this movie is too cute to miss. I’m not going to comment on the predictability of the film as I’m sure you all can guess that it’s pretty high up there in terms of seeing how it’s going to end, but I will say that knowing how it ends doesn’t stop me from enjoying it, so I'm confident that you will enjoy it too.

I’d give this movie four out of five stars. This film came out in 2013, so it was definitely in the early stages of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas. I believe their ten-year anniversary of the Countdown was last year, so they’ve just gotten better as the years have gone by. Regardless, Snow Bride is one of my faves and I’m sure it will be yours too! Enjoy!
