I think this is my favorite film so far in the Christmas debuts on Hallmark this year. Starring Tyler Hynes, who is starting to become one of my Hallmark favorites, and Mallory Jansen, this film is one that I can’t help but wish actually comes to fruition this Christmas. What I mean is that the concept of the movie — creating a Christmas scavenger hunt for couples to do during the holiday season — was so cute it made me want to do one myself. On that note, does anyone know of any Christmas scavenger hunts I can take part in??
On the 12th Date of Christmas film follows Jessica (Jansen) and Aiden, two game-app designers, who are assigned to create a Christmas Scavenger Hunt to the theme of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” The only problem is that Aiden would prefer to work alone while Jessica is eager to prove herself in the hopes of landing a promotion at work. However, as they spend more time with each other, they begin to realize that they work better together than they do apart — professionally and romantically.
Both Hynes and Jansen work really well on screen together. Hynes nailed his role as Aidan (no surprise there). I have yet to be disappointed with Hynes’s work on Hallmark and he’s definitely one that I hope continues to be a part of these Christmas movies for years to come. While Hynes is no stranger to Hallmark movies, I don’t believe Jansen has been in one before. The only thing I can say is that I hope this isn’t the last time we see her in another Hallmark movie because I absolutely loved her portrayal of Jessica. She reminds me of myself, in good ways and bad, but I love how confident the character is in her ideas. While she may not be the best in “promoting” herself for the job she wants, she knows that she can handle anything that comes her way. On top of that, she LOVES to bake. How can anyone not love this character??
On top of all that, this movie does not disappoint when it comes to Christmas. I mean, when you’ve got a movie centered on creating Christmas-themed dates, you better have a lot of holiday cheer included, right? From cooking classes to picking and decorating a Christmas Tree, you’ve got plenty of Christmas Cheer to chose from. Add in a specular Christmas party with all the festive trimmings and a love story that makes you wish for a sequel, and you've got yourself the perfect Christmas movie. This one definitely makes the top of my list of all the Hallmark movies so far this year, and I hope it does for you too!
