Who doesn’t love a dessert that involves apples? 9 out of 10 times, you’re guaranteed to enjoy it, am I right? Unless you’re allergic (and if so, I’m soooo sorry), apples are a source of deliciousness that cannot be compared to anything else. They can be both savory and sweet depending on what you do with them, and if I’m being honest, this recipe is a little bit of both. Originally made by my grandmother and passed down to my mom and then to me, these are some of my favorite things to make. Check out the recipe below and let me know what you think!
INGREDIENTS
7 cups peanut oil
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
12 ounces beer (*can be non-alcoholic*)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 medium-sized Granny Smiths or Braeburn apples
Confectioners Sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat oil in a dutch oven or electric deep fryer to 380 degrees.
2. Mix flour, beer, and granulated sugar in a medium bowl.
3. Core and peel apples. Cut in 1/2 inch thick rings and pat dry with paper towels.
4. Dip apples in batter, letting the excess drip back in the bowl, before carefully slipping about four into the fryer. *Only fry a few slices at a time to maintain the temperature!*
5. Fry for about four minutes, turning over until they are golden brown.
6. Remove apples with a slotted spoon and drain well on paper towels.
7. Immediately dust apples with confectioners sugar and serve!
