Valentine’s Day Plans

Valentine’s Day, A.K.A. All Chocolate’s Day, is almost here and I don’t hate it. As one of the only single people left in my immediate family, I plan on making myself some Nutella covered strawberries, eating TONS of (dark) chocolate, and watching some nostalgic Valentine's movies. Is there anything better than that!?

As you can imagine, I have a list of movies on my list for Sunday. The first being Franklin’s Valentine's. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me explain. Franklin was a show on Nickelodeon about a little turtle who faces life’s challenges with his friends, including his best friend, Bear. This particular episode was, obviously, all about Valentine’s Day. In it, Franklin makes all his classmates some Valentine’s Day cards but, on the way to school, he accidentally loses. After explaining the situation to the class, Franklin decides to go home and make everyone Friendship Cards as a way of thanking them for being so nice. While my description doesn't do much to explain the desire for watching it, the main reason for me is nostalgia. Franklin is just so cute and the episode reminds me of how exciting it was to pick out Valentine's Day cards for school. Looking back, I'm amazed that everyone in my class managed to have different cards to give everyone. For twenty kids to all get their own distinctive cards, that's pretty impressive. I don't know about you but picking out Valentine's Day cards was a big deal in school. It was basically a popularity contest to see who could get the coolest characters on their cards. I usually went with Disney or Harry Potter characters... Also, shout out to all the parents who took their kids to the local pharmacy where they only had two different types of cards for kids to choose from but still made it an adventure. I swear, when my dad allowed me to pick out which cards I wanted to give, it was like he was giving me his own personal credit card. I can choose? Meee?

Best. Day. Ever. Am I right?

The next movie on my list is A Charlie Brown Valentine. As some of you may know, I’m an avid Charlie Brown fan, so this is inevitable. I just love the peanuts gang and it makes me happy to watch them as I eat my favorite chocolate. Is that weird? Finally, to close out the night, I'm torn between two films. The first is Valentine’s Day, directed by one of my favorites, Garry Marshall, which follows multiple people in interconnected stories as everyone discovers the best and worst parts of Valentine’s Day. I really like this one because it has everything — humor, sadness, love, and surprises all wrapped in one big package. However, I'm also a big fan of Crazy, Stupid, Love because it's freaking hilarious and I haven't seen it in a while. I'm leaning towards that one but who knows? Maybe I'll do both...

All in all, Valentine’s Day is shaping up to be a really good day. I hope yours is too. Let me know if you're planning to do anything similar in the comments below!
